Roof painting is cleaning the roof, changing tiles, pointing caps and painting 3 coats, the roof can technically still leak due to other issues not seen from the top side of the roof.

Roof restoration is the next level of roof painting. The difference is restoration is taking the roof back to truss, remove battens, install sarking, put the roof back on replacing broken tiles, then painting it.

A bit like repainting a car, mask it up and paint it, or restoring it, remove every panel, glass, nut and bolt, and rebuild it.

Roof Painting Process

Roof painting is a process of high-pressure water blasting the tiles, replacing broken roof tiles, repointing cracked mortar and applying 1 coat of Dulux primer and 2 heavy coats of Dulux Roof membrane to the roof, in order to protect it from the elements, such as wind, rain and ice, as well as to help keep out pests and improve the overall aesthetic of the property.

How long does roof paint last?

Using a quality coating and done with the right preparation your newly painted roof will last approximately 10 to 15 years. Paint will fade over time.

What is the warranty for roof painting?

Our roof painting comes with a 15 year material warranty, 10 year labour warranty. Done with the right preparation and using quality coatings, your roof restoration will comfortably see out the next decade. Gloss finishes may start to burn off after 6 or 7 years. Satin finishes may last a little longer.

Is restoration or painting better?

Roof restoration is a much better option than roof painting if you have severe leaks, it requires more labour as the entire roof is effectively rebuild. Roof restoration takes the entire roof back to truss, sarking is installed and then the roof is put back on replacing broken tiles, and then the roof can optionally be painted. Restoration ensures that the entire roof is thoroughly checked and any potential problems are addressed. Additionally, because the entire roof is having sarking installed, it is unlikely to leak compared to a roof that is simply painted. Therefore, roof restoration is a more reliable and long-lasting solution than roof painting.
